Here is a library of flies and materials to tie them from our newsletter and members past and present.

Hook: Long-shank saltwater hook, size 1/0–3/0
Thread: White or mono
Tail: White bucktail under an olive or white saddle hackle with 3 pearl & 2 gold strands of flashabou on top.
Body: Pearl braid
Throat/belly: White bucktail
Wing: Sparse bucktail (white, yellow, or olive) with peacock herl on top
Flash: Pearlescent or gold flashabou

Hook: Standard saltwater hook, size 4–1
Thread: Olive, brown, or mono
Weight: Bronze or brown bead chain
Tail: The fluff of an olive or brown hackle under 2 olive or brown hackles splayed outward on each side.
Body: Brown or olive Ed’s yarn (ask Ed Lombardo for details) or similar with 3 pairs of silicone legs between wraps. Brush out with velcro and pull fibers to the side. Run UV epoxy along the bottom of the shank and cure. Hold back the legs and cut body into a disc.

Hook: Any hook 1/0+ but short shank or standard is best
Thread: Mono
Tail: Craft fur tied in veiling the shank repeated until the hook point.
Body/Head: 3mm foam or thicker tied in like a gurgler with craft fur hollow tied in front of the foams tie in point repeated until the hook eye. Stick on eyes and two coats of clear silicone.

Hook: Any hook size 1+ standard
Thread: Black
Tail: Black super hair or similar synthetic
Body: Silver flashabou, mylar tubing, or body braid wrapped around the shank
Wing: Black bucktail
Throat: Red or orange calf tail or bucktail

Hook: Short shank 2–1 extra-strong
Weight: Small Jiggy Head or cone
Thread: Mono
Tail: Pearl body braid tied on top and picked out.
Body: Pearl body braid wrapped up the shank.
Wing: Your choice of rabbit strip tied in at head then glued to body with super glue
Epoxy: UV epoxy underneath the body up to the jiggy head

Hook: Any standard or long-shank hook 1/0
Thread: Mono
Body Extension: 4o or 50 lb mono
Tail: Tan or pink Ultra Chenile
Body: Brown, tan, and grey craft fur blended and made into a brush that is tied in and wrapped forward.
Head: 2 Large tan foam beetle bodies glued to sandwich the shank with the pointed side facing the hook eye and flat sides touching. Ears cut from 2mm foam and glued on.
Detailing: Eyes, nose, and inner ear colored by marker. Body combed out and trimmed to shape

Hook: Standard or long shank hook 5/0+
Thread: Mono
Body Extension: 50 lb mono
Tail: EP fiber clump v-tied as a spreader and any flash material under 8 short skinny hackles tied around the clump under 2 long skinny hackles the length of the body tied in one on each side.
Eyes: The largest 3D eyes you can find with 100 lb mono pierced through and glued to make a “mono dumbell eye.”
Body: EP fiber v-tied vertically then horizontally repeated up the extension and shank. Pause where the head ends to trim head. Keep eyes clear. Continue on to make the mantle pausing to tie in fins at appropriate points.
Fins: Micro suede fabric <1mm thick cut to shape with thin tie down points left at both ends and in the middle. Tie in using the tie down points and glue liberally.
Detailing: Mantle trimmed to shape. Hackles and body colored with markers.

Hook: Any extra-long shank hook size 6–4
Thread: Black
Tail: Make a dubbing loop twice as long as desired tail length. Shred and blend tan, red, pink, and a small amount of black craft fur. Twist the dubbing loop into a noodle. Pull the loop up, so it is horizontal and sticking back off the shank like a tail. Fold the dubbing loop in half, so the end reaches the shank. The loop should furl on itself. Aid this by spinning it with your fingers. Tie in the loop.
Body: Make a dubbing loop with the same material as the tail. Palmer the dubbing loop up the shank. Pause and let the loop hang to tie in the foam for the head.
Head: 2mm black foam tied in facing back like a gurlger. Wrap the dubbing loop under then fold the foam back down like you would a gurlger. Snip the excess.
Detailing: Trim any long fibers. Color the tip of the tail and the dubbing under the head with a black marker.
