April 2015 Rhody Newsletter

Rhody Fly Rodders members and friends,

Here is the April ‘Rhody’ Newsletter for your enjoyment. This will be the last newsletter until we reconvene for our winter meetings in October.

Of course we will have our ‘Summer Fishing Get-Togethers’ till then. The list of the places and directions of these get-togethers are in this newsletter, and we hope to see you all sometime during the summer.

We have our annual cookout get-together at this April meeting, and invite you all to attend. We will do a bit of fly casting on the lawn of the club before the cookout, and after we eat we will have an interesting DVD, called “Rivers of a Lost Coast”, showing steelhead fishing on the rivers of the west coast from the 1920′ thru the 1960′s and the tragic demise of those fabulous rivers. A great show!

Please join us, bring a friend!

Have a great summer and fishing season!

Best to you,

Peter Nilsen
President / Newsletter Editor

Menhaden Fisheries Propaganda?

greenpeace-activists-prevent-i

Greenpeace activists prevent industrial fishing giant Omega from reaching a large school of menhaden.

The commercial menhaden industry is promoting plenty of menhaden, preparing to make a move to get the quota restrictions eased at the ASMFC level.

Since the restrictions are starting to work, and the menhaden are
starting to increase, they want to go right back to catching as many as
they can.

Typical commercial attitude.
