Hello Rhody Fly Rodders Members and Friends,
Here is the January 2015 edition of the Rhody Fly Rodders newsletter.
This month our guest speaker will be our own, Capt. Ray Stacheleck. Capt. Ray is a long time member of ‘Rhody’ and is well known in the saltwater fly fishing circles, as he’s been an expert guide and charter captain for almost 20 years. Ray is also an expert fly tyer, and a fly tying professional, tying at many of the major fly fishing shows and having numerous of his fly patterns picked up by Umpqua Feather Merchants.
Capt. Ray’s presentation this month is entitled, ‘Tuna Helper – A Recipe for Success’. This is about everything you should know about successful fishing for Albies and Bonito! More details in the newsletter. Don’t miss this one!
Also, find on page 5, a list of used fly fishing tackle. Some of which will be available at this upcoming meeting, the rest will be at the February meeting, but if you’re interested, you can contact the seller at the phone & email listed.
On a sad note, two, long-time fly fishing gentlemen from RI, passed away in the last two weeks. First – Past President and long time Trout Unlimited member, and all round great guy, Malcom (Mal) Rochford passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Secondly – Joe Carr of Carr’s Rod & Gun Fly shop, passed away a few days ago. Joe was a huge supporter of fly fishing in both fresh and salt, contributing to almost all the local fishing clubs here in Rhode Island. He was well respected by all.
The meeting is open to all – please bring a friend!
Enjoy the newsletter and I hope to see you all at this upcoming meeting on Tuesday, January 20th.
Best to you all,
Peter
